Pamela grew up in New Orleans where she studied dance and theater from an early age. After graduating from college with a BFA in Theater, she moved to New York City where she continued to pursue her passion for the arts, working at an off-broadway show, The Blue Man Group, and teaching hip hop dance classes to inner-city girls in Harlem. Her interest in teaching young children led her to become a full-time drama teacher at The Blue School, where she helped create that program. She utilizes myriad artistic modalities in her teaching, including puppetry, music, and dance. She has been a presenter on the role puppets play in Social/Emotional development within the classroom at the "Wonderplay" early childhood education conference in New York City.
Pamela has a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education. She has been teaching for 12 years and has taught 2-year-olds all the way through middle school in a variety of classroom settings. She believes that with the support of their community and their own self-reflection, children are able to soar in all areas of their lives. Her goal is for her students to be actively engaged in their own learning, which creates an intrinsic motivation to seek out knowledge about themselves and the world around them. This enables them to carve out their own unique path for the betterment of themselves and their fellow humans.
Pamela enjoys traveling, outdoor and water-related activities, working with and caring for animals, the arts, writing children's books and spending time with family and friends.
