Kurt Hausheer was born in Independence, Missouri. While growing up, he earned the eagle scout award and the God & Country medal. He played football, basketball, track in high school, then attended Graceland University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in biology. At Graceland, Kurt played collegiate men’s volleyball and soccer. While playing men’s volleyball for USA Volleyball Hall of Fame Coach Schall, Kurt and his teammates won the NAIA National Championship. This team also won their conference 4 consecutive seasons, along with USVBA Regional Champions for 3 years. Kurt was named to the MAIVA All-Conference Team his senior year and tried out for the USA Men’s national team.
After college, he served as a naval officer in special warfare and oceanography. While in the navy, Kurt attended Golden Gate University, studying financial planning. He then was hired by Hewlett-Packard as a financial analyst. Kurt began coaching camps, clinics, and teams concurrently while working at hp. Eventually, he was offered the head coaching position at Philomath High School, where he also conducted vertical jump training. Kurt has coached volleyball for clubs, middle schools and high schools for many years, as well as continuing to jump train athletes. Kurt also has a patented invention called the Plyotower ™. Most recently, Kurt coached the 5th & 6th-grade volleyball teams for St. Theresa’s Middle School, with both teams finishing with undefeated records.
Coach Hausheer has 3 children, all grown, and lives in Cedar Park, Texas.
